I've made all the mistakes that eager traders make. I've gotten into trades too late, held losers too long and winners not long enough. I've traded angry and let fear keep me from pulling the trigger on trades that set up perfectly only to watch those trades reach their objective ... and I missed out on BIG profits. The mental frustration and anger we traders experience when we fall into these Trading Traps is maddening!
Like I said, I've been there. I've experienced your mistakes. I know how you replay a trade over and over again and again in your mind, desperately wishing there were some way to do the trade over again. I known that gut twisting feeling you get when the trading day is over and you can't stop beating yourself up over the trades (and BIG profits) you should have made, but didn't. No matter how many self-promises you make to correct your behavior, you seem helpless to stop committing the same trading mistakes and suffering the emotional despair.
Only a trader understands the emotional rollercoaster and mental self-abuse that another trader goes through. It's almost too hard to put into words, and it cannot be understated. In fact, Trader Monthly magazine reported that therapists have seen a spike in calls from traders trying to deal with this inner distress over their trading results.
But what heightened my frustration in those early days of trading was the contradiction between what I knew I was called to do and my actual success (or lack thereof) doing it.
I was convinced with my whole heart that God had called me to be a trader. Bruce Wilkerson, the author of The Prayer of Jabez and The Dream Giver, would say that I was following my God-inspired purpose and destiny. But days, then weeks, and then months would slip by without any improvement in my trading performance. The disparity between what I knew I was called to do and my actual trading results propelled me into a state of bewilderment, confusion and despair.
As a 20-year veteran trader, I know that if you could overcome this cycle
of trading mistakes and mental turmoil, your life will change forever.
Because I was (and still am) a Christian, I thought the answer would be to model myself after other Christian traders. I continually visited the local library and bookstores desperately searching the shelves for anything I could find about trading written from a Christian trader's perspective. I wanted to learn what the Bible had to say about trading. After searching through libraries and bookstores (keep in mind that this was back in 1989; the Internet was just a toddler) I could not find one single thing!
Out of necessity I began to build my own study of how the Bible and trading intersect. Over time, with much prayer and writing and study, several biblical principles began to emerge as the core principles that formed the foundation to the success that I was increasingly realizing as a trader. It is no coincidence that as my discovery and understanding of these biblical principles increased, so too did my trading profits.

If you are already a trader, you know first-hand the struggles, frustrations and despair I experienced. The stress and self-torment that traders go through is very unique to the business of trading. Only a trader understands the emotional rollercoaster that his fellow traders go through.
Unfortunately, most traders, instead of seeking to correct their behavior, make the mistake of looking for a different trading system or a different market to trade. But, if the floors in your home are crooked, you do not put on an addition. You go back and fix the foundation.
Experience your own Upside Breakout
Very often, when the market tries to climb to new heights, it runs into stiff resistance. Unseen forces drag on the market, preventing it from gaining new ground. Finally, some event occurs which empowers the market to burst forward into new and higher territory. Chart analysts call this an "Upside Breakout".
Traders can also experience a drag on their upward progress and trading success.
I'm sure you've heard the phrase "Winning is 90% mental and 10% physical". It's the 90% part of that equation, the "unseen force", the mental side of the trading game, that caps most traders' progress and limits their ability to reach new levels of trading success.
All too often, traders spend most of their time focused on the 10% and neglect the other 90%. But when you apply the 10 Biblical Principles for Trading Success to the mental part of your trading, you can experience your own Upside Breakout.
I have discovered what should have been obvious to me from the start: The principles for all success, including trading success, are rooted in the Bible.
"By your great skill in trading you have increased your wealth"

Why am I sharing this?
Did you ever hear the phrase "1+1 can be greater than 2"? That little phrase ignited a fire within my heart that I have not been able to put out. Over the years, I have allocated an increasingly greater percentage of my trading profits to fund the work of Christ around the world. Then, one day in the middle of a church service, it hit me. What if I were to share with both beginning and experienced traders alike the biblical principles that are the foundation of my trading success? What if other traders applied the very same principles in order to experience greater levels of their own trading success? What if other traders heeded the call to use their trading account as a vehicle to bless others?
My mission became clear ...
"To instill in you, the new or experienced trader, the attitudes and actions of a successful trader, using the 10 Biblical Principles for Trading Success, thereby empowering you to fulfill your calling, perform at your highest level, and generate greater trading profits for a greater purpose."
You see, I could continue my giving over here by myself, and that would be great. But God inspired me with that little phrase, "1+1 can be greater than 2". God planted it in my heart that as other traders intentionally applied the 10 Biblical Principles for Trading Success, a growing contingent of increasingly successful traders could give generously to God's work.
Proverbs 13:22 tells us, "A sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous". I know of no greater vehicle for such a transfer of wealth to take place than through trading.
